What is social host liability?

Social host liability is similar to dram shop liability in that it enables those injured in drunk driving accidents to hold additional parties accountable for the roles they played in the incidents. In Wisconsin, there is a limited social host liability policy that only applies to underage drunk drivers. Under this law, the victim of the drunk driving accident can file a civil lawsuit against the “social host” who provided alcoholic beverages to the minor who caused the accident after leaving the social gathering.
