WisDOT: 50 killed in roadways in May

There were 50 vehicular-related fatalities recorded in Wisconsin last month in spite of continuous road improvements to increase the safety of motorists, a report of TMJ 4 stated on June 3.

WisDOT’s director of the bureau of transportation safety, David Pabst stated last May’s fatality record, according to statistics, ranked sixth after the Second World War. As the state recently increased the speed limit of major highways, Pabst told reporters that the department was unsure this change was a factor in the fatalities. Pabst, however, noted that driving at a slow speed while on the left side of the road might cause mishaps. Drivers in other states reportedly are cited when they drive slowly while on the left side of the road. Due to the 217 recorded road fatalities from January to May, Pabst has advised the public to drive sober, slow down, eliminate distractions, and buckle up to prevent serious injuries and fatal accidents.
