Millions of vehicles added by 7 manufacturers in massive Takata recall

An estimated 4.4 million vehicles from 7 auto manufacturers were recently added to the broadened Takata airbag recall, a June 2 article of NBC News reported.

Well-known manufacturers Mercedes-Benz, GM, Daimler Vans, Ford, Volkswagen, BMW and Jaguar-Land Rover announced the expanded recall on June 2 and pledged their cooperation with federal authorities. The faulty airbag inflators of Takata have caused several fatalities and hundreds of injuries. Reports revealed that among the manufacturers, GM had the highest number of recalled vehicles at 1.9 million. Metal shards from the inflator may hit drivers and front seat passengers if the airbag has been deteriorated by heat or humidity. The Takata airbag recall is the largest product recall in American history.
