Students aboard school bus injured in accident

Several middle school students from Monroe Elementary suffered injuries after the school bus they were riding in collided with a garbage truck in the southern part of Manitowoc County, a March 21 article on reported.

The accident, involving a school bus and a Blue Water Services garbage truck, took place just before 8 am. It was not confirmed how many of the six students aboard the school bus sustained minor injuries, but one person involved in the wreck was airlifted to a nearby medical facility in Neenah.

The bus driver, who was an employee of Brandt Buses, sustained head and back injuries in the crash. The garbage truck driver also sustained injuries in the incident. Brandt Buses owner Steve Roekle stated that the bus driver, who was in his 60s, had not been involved in any other accidents. The accident caused power loss to several establishments along Clover Road, as a utility pole was damaged in the crash.
