Child sustains minor injuries in Sheboygan bus accident

A child was recently hospitalized with minor injuries after being struck by a bus while crossing the street at around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14 in the 1400 block of South 8 Street in Sheboygan. The Sheboygan Police Department did not identify the eight year old accident victim, but stated that the child was running in front of the bus in order to meet friends who were waiting on the other side of the street when the accident occurred.

The bus driver, who has at least twenty-five years of experience, was able to avoid a direct collision by swerving and applying the brakes. The child was struck a glancing blow, and taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

While this situation resulted in a fortunate outcome for the child, there are many cases for which the same cannot be said.
