Thousands of Kia SUVs in the US with faulty seatbelts recalled

At least 2,587 models of the 2014 Kia Sorento SUVs are being recalled in the U.S. to repair a seatbelt issue that could increase the risk of injury to passengers, Consumer Affairs reported on July 29.

Reports said the seatbelts in the front passenger seat of the 2016 model of the Kia Sorento SUV may not properly fasten due to a problem in the buckle latch assembly. Front seat passengers run a high risk of sustaining injuries in the event of an accident, especially if their seatbelt fails to fasten properly. The Korean automaker will start repairing the recalled SUVs on August 18. Owners of these models will be notified for the free replacement of the seatbelt buckle cover in the front passenger seat.
