3 carmakers update recall on vehicles with defective airbags

BBC News revealed on June 25 that automaker giants Nissan, Toyota and Mitsubishi recently included more vehicles in a worldwide recall of Takata airbags.

The combined recall update of the three vehicle manufacturers will affect 3.2 million vehicles around the world. The expanded recall was revealed after Takata top official Shigehisa Takada recently apologized to shareholders for the first time since the airbag issues came to light. Toyota has added 2.86 million vehicles in their recall; Nissan will add 198,000 vehicles while, Mitsubishi will be recalling another 120,000 vehicles. At least eight fatalities and several injuries have been linked to the rupturing Takata airbags.
