GM issued two recalls to fix thousands of vehicles

American automaker General Motors Co. issued two recalls on May 12 to fix thousands of vehicles with seatbelt and seat frame problems, The Detroit News reported.

In the first recall, an estimated 469,000 previous models of Chevrolet Malibu vehicles contained seatbelts that may fail due to a flexi-steel cable that could become damaged overtime. In the 36 complaints receive by GM regarding the problem, one person suffered a minor injury. The second recall affects 52,930 new versions of the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado vehicles that have seat frames that may detach from the body. GM stated that they are not aware of any incidents regarding the second recall. GM dealers will inspect and check the faulty parts of the affected vehicles.
