120K Honda bikes recalled for faulty brakes

More than 120,000 later models of Honda motorcycles in America are being recalled by its manufacturer due to faulty brakes that may lead to motorcycles catching fire, the New York Times reported on September 8.

The recall affects 126,000 Honda GL 18000 with faulty rear disc brakes. The Japanese automaker issued the recall after they were notified of four motorcycles that caught fire last year. Honda had already recalled the affected motorcycles in 2011, but according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), they received complaints from owners that the recall failed to resolve the problem. Honda stated that they were not aware of any accidents or injuries that involved the affected motorcycles.

Defective motorcycles unfortunately can cause incapacitating injuries to its occupants.
