Drunk driver in fatal crash sentenced to seven years in jail

The intoxicated driver who crashed his vehicle last July will be serving seven years in jail for the deaths of two passengers, the Stevens Point Journal reported on May 20.

Reports said 23-year-old Timothy Saavedra was also sentenced to a five year period of extended supervision following imprisonment. The incident occurred on July 20 when Saavedra, with a blood alcohol content of 0.113, crashed the pickup he was driving in Linwood. Saavedra was driving over 90 mph when the accident occurred. Two of the truck’s passengers, Melissa Ann Peterson-Suzda and Stephanie Eberhardt, died at the crash scene. Another passenger, Lee Hogan, suffered from serious injuries.
