GM recalled vehicles increased to 1.6 million

After General Motors issued a recall of 780,000 vehicles affected by a faulty switch earlier this month, another 842,000 vehicles have been added to the recall, according to a February 25 report from CBS News.

The defective starters in the estimated 1.6 million GM vehicles have been linked to dozens of accident, some of which proved to be fatal. The automaker explained that the starters in the affected vehicles may become loose by the use of bulky key accessories or being jolted in uneven roads, causing the engine to stop. When the engine stops, the steering, brakes, and airbags of the vehicle become disabled due to power loss, GM has stated.

A spokesperson for GM said that they will replace the starters of the affected vehicles, but the parts needed are not yet available.

Unfortunately, victims of defective vehicles suffer emotionally and financially due to serious injuries caused by accidents.
