GM Chevrolet Sonic cars recalled due to potential fire risk

New models of Chevrolet Sonic cars are being recalled by automaker General Motors Co. due to substandard strap welds that may lead to fuel tank detachment, which can cause fires, Reuters reported on October 7.

In the recall, the automaker explained that the fuel tank of 1,658 Chevrolet Sonic 2013-2014 cars can be detached due to the faulty strap welds holding it. The recalled cars may potentially catch fire if the tank is punctured and ignites.

Though no one reportedly sustained injury from the recalled vehicles sold in the U.S. and Canada, owners of the recalled Sonics are advised to immediately have their vehicles checked and repaired for free.

Sadly, at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ®, we know that many people in Sheboygan sustain injuries due to defective vehicles on the road. If you have been harmed by an auto defect, talk with an attorney about your legal options for pursuing compensation and justice by calling (920) 459-8000.
