Sheboygan mother dies after being hit in a crosswalk

A 60-year-old woman, along with her 19-year-old daughter and her daughter’s friend, were involved in a Sheboygan pedestrian accident when they were hit by a car while in a crosswalk two weeks ago.

The three women were leaving Brat Days because the daughter had a headache. As they reached the crosswalk at Niagara Avenue and 17th Street, they made sure to look both ways to ensure that no traffic was coming. However, as they were crossing, all three women were struck by a car.

While the two 19-year-old women sustained only minor injuries from the accident, the mother died two days later.

The driver of the car, who reportedly was driving with no headlights and had been drinking prior to the accident, immediately fled the scene. She has been charged with five felony counts, including hit and run, homicide, and operating while intoxicated.

Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of the victim at this time.
