Sheboygan Man Killed in Car Accident

A man was killed Thursday in a Sheboygan car accident.

According to officials with the Wisconsin State Patrol, the fatal car accident occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 23 and county Highway TT. The accident happened in front of a Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department sergeant who was speeding to another call.

According to the accident report, 39 year-old Erik C. Herzong was driving a 1998 Dodge Neon across the eastbound lanes about one-tenth of a mile in front of a squad car driven by Sgt. Jason Liermann. Herzog drove through the median crossover and into the westbound lanes where his car was struck in the passenger side by the 1999 Chevy pickup.
Herzog was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the pickup, 45 year-old Plymouth-resident Scott M. Schramm, was not injured in the accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends.
