Driver Flees Sheboygan Rollover Accident

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a rollover accident which occurred Sunday.

According to a Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department crash report, a Dodge Durango with a temporary license plate was found shortly after 1:15 a.m. Sunday near county Highway FF and Rhine Road. Police say evidence at the scene showed the SUV had been traveling north on Rhine Road when the driver left the east side of the roadway and struck a mailbox. The driver then re-entered the road, over-corrected, and swerved into the east ditch, where the vehicle rolled onto the driver’s side and caught fire, authorities say.

The SUV was empty when police arrived on the scene. Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Liermann said Monday that officials believe they know who was driving the vehicle, but the crash remains under investigation.

The Elkhart Lake Fire Department and First Responders were called to the scene along with Plymouth Ambulance.
