After fatal drunk driving crash, man faces seven criminal charges

A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with a deadly drunk driving accident that killed a 45-year-old woman in Paris, Wis.

The man, from Burlington, was charged with seven criminal charges as well as seven traffic charges. He was charged with driving on a suspended license, although he is also an illegal immigrant and never should have obtained a legal driver’s license. According to state records, his license had been previously suspended as well, as he has been found guilty in previous criminal cases that include drug possession and battery.

Following the accident, the man attempted to flee the police. Finding him in a friend’s truck, found smelling strongly like alcohol and with fresh blood on him, the police arrested the man as the second driver in the fatal crash.

If found guilty, the man faces 108 years and nine months of total time tied to the criminal justice system. If is found guilty and survives his jail sentence, he will be promptly deported by Immigrant Customs Enforcement agents, who were not informed of his immigration status in prior instances.
